Cipressa and Poggio
The last km of the classic “Milano Sanremo”, the last two hills that determine the athletes’ state of
form to get to Sanremo in via Roma for the final sprint!
In San Lorenzo al Mare the famous Cipressa begins, a regular climb of about 6 km, which leads us to cross the town of Costarainera and then become lighter, up to the town of Cipressa. Crossing the narrow passage in the town center, a descent begins 3.5 km, the place of the first escapes in view of the arrival.
Returning to the shelter of the sea, since it is a pleasure ride for us, we enter the cycle path, to travel a few kilometers safely and then succeed again on the state road near the crossroads that will lead us to the climb.
The last effort for professionals in this 298km race is the 3.5 km long climb of the Poggio, it has an average gradient of 4% and then it slopes down towards the finish line in Sanremo.
For our tour instead we have the opportunity to return to the cycle path and follow it in the direction of San Lorenzo al Mare for the return.
