Tour of 78 km with about 1700 meters of elevation that crosses the Gubbio and Pietralunga pre-Apennine hills. Starting from the Park Hotel Cappuccini in Gubbio we immediately approach the first challenging hill Madonna della Cima located at 780 meters above sea level, going in the direction of Scheggia. From the top we proceed with a nice descent, very easy to pedal, with asphalt leading to Scheggia where we take the Via Flaminia, in the direction of the Pass of Scheggia, which can be reached after about 13 km from the start.
Another beautiful descent follows, with hairpin bends and a view of Mount Catria, once in Tranquillo, take the direction towards Gubbio following “della Contessa” Road (SP 452) for a few kilometers until we reach the crossroads for Burano / San Bartolomeo.
From here we start a climb that plunges us into the Umbrian hills and countryside, about 8 km of ascent with hairpin bends and beautiful views over the Burano valleys, until arriving at the Church of Burano. Continue on the right at the crossroads of the Church, for a slightly flat stretch, untill “Dal baffone” restaurant, excellent specialties with truffles and porcini mushrooms.
Continuing we face a descent that takes us to the crossroads for Pietralunga and to the “Pantani” pass about 760 meters above sea level, then descending towards Pietralunga. The central square with the Longobard Tower, the Duomo and several bars where we can stop for refreshment before the last ascent and return to Gubbio is beautiful, we are already about 50 km away.
From Pietralunga we go up towards Nogna, the last ascent, always at almost 700 meters above sea level, with a beautiful descent, with hairpin bends and fast that takes us back to the SS219 state road, where obviously we follow the direction for Mocaiana / Gubbio, from there about 10 km remain. on a slight slight slope that bring us back to the Park Hotel Ai Cappuccini.
