A fantastic Road bike ride of just over 100 km, with more than 2000 meters in elevation. This tour gives us the opportunity to cross the hills of the upper Tiber valley, heading from Gubbio to Assisi, passing through the Valico di Morano.
Initially we head from the hotel towards the hills in front of Gubbio, through Fontanelle and follow the easy road that leads to the hamlet of Ponte d’Assi. From there we take the state road towards Perugia for about 500 meters, before turning left and continuing towards Ghigiano.
After about 14 km we start the first climb of the day, short, about 2 km, with a 10% tear, immediately follows a nice descent, rideable, but with the road not very wide that leads to the next climb, after crossing the bridge on the Chiascio, in the direction of Colpalombo.
A little longer climb that arrives in the village, as soon as we enter we see the plaque with the sea level on the left. A little rest with a slight slight slope and then again up towards Carbonesca, followed by a slight slope, descent and ascent towards Casacastalda.
At the crossroads with a beautiful panoramic terrace overlooking the valley, we continue towards Gualdo, but after a few hundred meters, before starting the descent, we take the direction of San Presto / Collemincio, where starts about 10 km of tears (also at 15%) and descents, until reaching the Morano pass.
Now a little more than 10 km of very pedalable descent awaits us to arrive in Assisi from above, immediately after the first door we find a fountain to quench our thirst, but following the main street and passing in front of Santa Chiara and then arriving in Piazza del Municipality, we find a new source and several places where we can take a break, to regain energy and sit at the tables in front of the Temple of Minerva.
We leave again going in the direction of the Basilica of San Francesco, and then we go down towards the bridge of San Vetturino, we now follow the SP 248 crossing Tordibetto, Palazzo, Petrignano up to Piccione.
From Piccione begins the ascent towards the hills that separate Gubbio from Perugia. About 10 km of ascent, at 6% with several hairpin bends, always in the sun, then cross the hamlets of Belvedere, Scritto.
Arriving around the 90th km there is the descent that takes us back to the plain of Gubbio, 3/4 km that can be traveled at high speed, ending with the last 7 km of a slight slope to return to the Park Hotel.
