This route is perfect for road bike , gravel and mtb bikes, not demanding and suitable for everyone, mainly on flat terrain is an immersion in the splendid Mediterranean scrub typical of the Argentario.
We start by cycling through the Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve. This nature reserve is located on a 7-km strip of land that separates Orbetello Lagoon from the open sea. Along the lagoon you will find bird watching stations, but while cycling it is also possible to spot some fallow deer hidden in the greenery.
We proceed towards Ansedonia
This renowned tourist village is located on a small promontory immersed in the Mediterranean vegetation. The village lies near the ruins of the ancient Roman town of Cosa, which includes the towers of San Pancrazio, San Biagio and Puccini. At the base of the hill, there is a sandy beach with restaurants on the shore.
We leave Ansedonia behind and cycle along the lagoon towards Orbetello right in the center of the lagoon that carries the same name. It is an important reserve managed by the WWF. Among its attractions you will find the gothic-style Cathedral (Duomo) dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, the road that crosses the lagoon (Ponte della Diga) and the Polveriera Guzman, historic building from 1692 that today hosts the Archaeological Museum of Orbetello.
