Veneto by Bike
Veneto region is extended from the Dolomites to the Adriatic Sea, with Venice as heart, famous for its canals, Gothic architecture and carnival.
If you want to pedal the Po Valley, it offers all kinds of ideas between lively cities of art such as Padua, Verona or Vicenza, or natural oases such as the Po Delta.
There is also no shortage of rugged hills and mountain climbs in Veneto with multiple scenarios.
A region with 360 degree scenario, from mountains, hills and sea, but also the Garda Lake, where there is a spectacular infinity cycle path over the water in Limone sul Garda.
It is possible to ride all year around, you can cycle in summer or winter, there are many routes suitable for your favourite bike.
For example, if you want to try fat bikes in winter, we obviously recommend going to the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From Lake Alleghe you climb through the woods, touching remote places such as Bramezza, Caracoi Cimai and Caracoi Agoin, with a view of the majestic Civetta wall.
Val di Zoldo is one of the most fascinating valleys in the Dolomites: from Pecol you can go up to discover some characteristic places, made up of typical stone houses and ancient larch wood barns.
Or from Cortina d’Ampezzo through the woods of Fiammes you reach Castel Uberto and enter the natural park of Fanes-Sennes-Braies, scouting for the suggestive waterfall which in winter is frozen and then off to the plateau of Fodara – Vedla.
Do you prefer to cycle along a cycle path? Eight thousand kilometers of cycle paths have been surveyed and mapped, the data can be consulted and downloaded from the Region’s website.
2,563 km of the total are on reserved locations, including those on unpaved surfaces.
In addition, itineraries of national interest are being realized, five cycle routes: Ven.To, Sole, Garda, Venice-Trieste, Adriatica.
There are also plans for an extension of the project including train-bike and bike-bus experiences, mainly concerning the Verona area and in the Dolomites.
One project also provides for the integration of cycle routes, not only with rail and road, but also with navigation.
Let’s not forget the rivers that offer natural scenery and are pleasant opportunities on two wheels for the whole family.
For example, between Sile and Tagliamento there are 45 kilometers where there are numerous seaside resorts, destinations for relaxation and entertainment: from Cavallino Treporti to Jesolo, from Eraclea to Caorle.
These beaches, very popular in July and August, offer a pleasant atmosphere in September, warm colors, naturalistic oases and maritime pine forests, ideal for even short trips out of town.
For those looking for the mountains, we recommend the Cristallo Resort & Spa in Cortina d’Ampezzo as a starting point for cycling tours.
The hotel, surrounded by the Ampezzo Dolomites, is located near cycling routes where you can admire the beauty of unspoiled nature, these mountains are exhiting either for road riders and mountain bikes.
In these areas the bike is also suitable for those who are less trained, for example you can follow the cycle path along the former Cortina – Calalzo railway.
A 50 kilometers tour from Cortina d’Ampezzo to Calalzo di Cadore and from Cortina to Cimabanche which can also be divided into two sections.
It is called the Lunga via delle Dolomiti and is one of the most exciting routes for two wheels in the entire Alpine arc, it was obtained from the route of the ancient railway built during the First World War and abandoned in 1962 and has constant and easy slopes.
It is a route suitable for everyone, especially for a nice family outing with children.
In the Cortina – Cimabanche section (with possible continuation towards Dobbiaco, 15 km) the route, slightly uphill, starts on asphalt to continue on a white road and cross the historic tunnels of the Trenino delle Dolomiti.
Do you want a holiday or a weekend bike and relaxation?
Have you ever experienced the magic of the spa?
The Hotel Terme Bristol Buja is located 50 meters from the pedestrian area of Abano Terme, in the province of Padua, and close to the main cycling routes of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.
An ideal starting point to discover several secrets of these areas with more than 3,000 years of history, including historic villages, villas, castles and food and wine tours.
From here you can set out to discover the heart of the Euganean Hills Park by tackling a challenging 40-kilometer route suitable for MTBs with 1,100 meters in altitude.
The first part of this tour has a compact and sliding surface, partly off road and part along the cycle path; while in the central part some sections will prove to be technical and fun, with trails and single trails immersed in the woods, in a succession of challenging climbs and adrenaline-pumping descents.
The route also offers passages along points of historical and monumental interest, such as the Camaldolesi Monastery on Monte Rua and Villa Vescovi at Luvigliano.
