The route IDEATED BY MARCHE CYCLING HOUSE starts from Borgo Lanciano and heads south in the direction of Pioraco. The road is mostly flat and crosses a pleasant hilly landscape. Once in Pioraco, it is worth stopping to visit the historic centre of the village, characterised by narrow streets, stone houses and a splendid view of the canyon below.
From Pioraco, the route continues uphill towards La Morca. The climb is short but steep, with an average gradient of around 10 per cent. From the top of the climb, there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area.
After La Morca, the route descends rapidly towards Esanatoglia. The descent is fun and fast, with some tight bends to negotiate. Once in Esanatoglia, we recommend a visit to the old town centre with its seven bell towers and characteristic stone houses.
